Some air purifier models come with pre-filters. Pre-filters trap large particles before they reach the HEPA filters (high efficiency particulate air). You should consider how you will clean and  maintain the kind of model you acquire. This is because clogged and dusty filters can render your machine ineffective and inefficient. And eventually your device will break down.

So before you buy an air purifier, be sure to go for models that are easy to clean and maintain to avoid early breakdown.

1. Washable pre-filter:

The ideal models for dust removal have washable pre filters. Washable and reusable pre-filters collect large particles, and there by allowing HEPA filters to properly trap particles that are relatively smaller.

Aside from shielding and increasing the life span of HEPA filters, washable filters  they are also minimize cost.

2. Servicing indicator:

We mentioned earlier that clogged and dusty filters are not productive. Air purifiers with servicing indicator alert you when there is the need for you to clean the filters. All you will have to do is to monitor the indicator closely.

3. Programmable timer:

This feature allows you to automatically turn off purifiers at your desired time.

  1. This was a really interesting Post for me, and exceptionally good timing as my little one has just been diagnosed with a dust allergy! I’ve been looking into getting one of these for the home, and you mentioned a few things that I hadn’t considered – such as the noise level. How easy are they to move from room to room if needed?

    • Auntio Jo, Thanks for stopping by.

These air purifiers are portable. You can move them from one place to another. But it is not a good idea to move air purifiers from one room to another. You would not be able to significantly improve the quality of the air in the rooms by doing that. It is best to place a separate air purifier in any room you want to purify.

      I hope this helps!
